01 / The brief
A gospel and soul singer-songwriter recorded three new songs live in one room on one night. The site had to carry that session, and build anticipation for a release that has not happened yet.
02 / The problem
Making a site for music you cannot yet hear. There is no audio player, no streaming link, nothing to press play on. The design had to carry all the anticipation on its own, warm cream instead of the expected dark, heavy editorial type, numbered sections that read like a magazine feature, and silent video loops from the night standing in for the songs themselves.
03 / What I built
- Seven numbered editorial sections structured like a print feature
- Two inline WebM loops from the session, muted and autoplaying with poster fallbacks
- Three-song teaser with per-track copy and a coming-soon state
- Band credits section giving each player their own frame
- Warm cream palette, a deliberate move away from the default dark artist site
04 / Stack
- HTML5
- CSS3
- JavaScript
- WebM
- Netlify
05 / Selected screens
06 / Outcome
- 5Pages
- 7Editorial sections
- 3Songs teased
- 2Inline video loops
